A new beta version will be available Wednesday night. I have started to implemet "Net play" in DfW. The only problem with net play is that you must have some basic knowledge on how to setup port forwarding/NAT on your router so outside users can be able to connect to your pc. The TCP port will be configurable, but the default port is 9903. I have testet a very basic version of net play in my local LAN and it is working very well. I'm only able to send scores at the moment (no editing or undo is working. I will not include the "Net play" in the new beta. I will wait until it gets a little better :)
There are still a lot of you out there using the versions with the "undo" bug/memory problem. Please upgrade to the latest 2.7.3.4 version to avoid problems with the stats. The upgrade is FREE. Do not uninstall the old version. The new version upgrades the old version and makes sure nothing is lost.

The "ready to go" databases for all divisions playing on the weekend of 28/03/2009 is now available from the "Downloads" menu in DfW and also on the BICC page.
I usually don't announce improvements in the news section anymore, but I will do an exception. I have added support for triples/threesome in DfW. There will be no option (yet) to play a threesome match, but you can instead create blind triples/threesomes teams and put them into a draw :)
You can create the triples manually or let DfW do the dirty work for you (mens, ladies or mixed triples). I will use the same technique and also add support for creating blind pairs. This will save tournament organizers for a lot of work when you do tournaments with blind pairs and/or triples/threesomes.

The Burnley Premier League 2009 database has been updated with the latest results.

More BICC databases has arrived.

I have released the 2.7.3.4 version. This version will fix the problem described below. The list of improvements and changes can be found on the forum.

There was a serious problem in the 2.7.3.3 version (and probably down to version 2.7.3.1) of DfW when you used the "undo" function (CTRL-Z). I was not aware of this until I got a few reports about problems with the stats this BICC weekend. I upgraded some parts of my programming tool a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the upgrade caused a random memory leak and the data in the memory area used to store the stats, were sometimes overwritten by garbage numbers when you used the undo function (this affected the stats for the player you were editing the score for). I contacted the US based company who created the update and asked them for a fix. They have now sent me an update and my laptop is now working without any problems when I compile the source code. There were no problems using the undo function as long as you did a "Rebuild all stats in current database" from the "Tools" menu after the match was done. Normal editing of a score by clicking on the score in the score sheet was not affected since this funtion used another part of the memory. I'm sorry for this problem, but there was not much I could do until I got the update. At work I did not install the upgrade so everything were ok when the source code were compiled there (as I did with the 2.7.3.4 version).

A new 2.7.3.3 beta version is now available. There is a couple of bugs in the "Add county team" screen. I have fixed the bugs and will release a new version later tonight. Use the beta version at your own risk :) A list of (som of the) bug fixes and improvements can be found on the forum.
While browsing the net, I came across a sound pack who is compatible with Darts for Windows. If you search for Darts sounds + Bruce Spendley in Google, you will find a RAR compressed file on a forum with all sounds from 0-180 + game shot. You will have to figure out yourself how to use these files (take a look at this turorial on how to use sound files in DfW). The sound file prefix must be set to blank in the "Settings -> Options" screen ("Extended" settings" tab) and also the two sound files "Player1.wav" and "Player2.wav" must be present in the "dfwsound" folder to get the sound option to work. These files are not the same quality as the one you get from the PxC demo. The PxC demo also got the "you require" sound + a few others the BS pack doesn't have.

I'm going on a 9 days trip to Spain on Saturday. If you are planning on buying a license, please order before Saturday.

I missed the last 7 legs of the Taylor-Thornton match so my database from the Coral.co.uk Players Championship 2009 is not complete. When the router died, it was almost the end of the world for me, but on the other hand, I was supposed to be in Portugal this week so I guess I was lucky after all. I'm going on a 9 days trip to Spain on Saturday. If you need a license, please order before Saturday. I don't know if I can get a stable internet connection in my hotel using my own laptop.

Version 2.7.3.2 has been released. I did by accident remove some code in the beta version and after that I mananged to overwrite the original code in the release version too. This problem affected the whole "Match log" screen. I'm really sorry for this, but there was nothing I could do than release a new version. On the bright side, I have added entry numbers to the alpha list printout from both the "Add new player" screen and the "Tournament" screen :)

22.01.2009
20:00 CET

I had by accident overwritten the original 2.7.3.1 release with the beta version (probably on Monday or Tuesday this week). If the button with the "+" sign (the shortcut to the "Match details" screen) is missing from your "Match log" screen, please download the latest release and reinstall DfW. This will also affect deleting matches from the "Match log" when you click the "DEL" button in the grid. This will not remove the match form the database, only from the grid. Deleting a match from the "Match log" will work if you press the "DEL" (or "DELETE") button on your keyboard.

The BICC "Ready to go" databases for all divisions on the following dates:
21/01/2009, 07/02/2009, and 14/02/2009 are now available for download from the Downloads menu in DfW. You can also download manually from the BICC page.

I have released a new beta version. The only new feature in this version is support for playing against BICC matches.
Here is the tutorial on how to play against matches or players in a DfW database.

23:25 CET

The tutorial How to play against a player/match in a DfW database has been updated. This tutorial was VERY outdated so it was about time I did something about it :)

Yet another BICC database from last weekend has been added to the download section at the BICC page. I have now 191 BICC databases available for download in my online archive + 126 from different tournaments around the world, including most of the Majors.
I have managed to get hold of the scores from the famous match at Wembley in 1999, "The Challenge of Champions", between Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld.
Click link below to download the database in .dfw format.
Darts for Windows must be installed on your computer to view the contents of the database.

18:45 CET

Three more BICC databases from this weekend are now available for download.

It has been brought to my attention that the way I display tons in the
"Print BICC or Super League in BDO style" is not correct compared to the old Excel sheets used for County matches before the counties strated to use DfW. After studying one of the Excel sheets, I must admit that, yes, I do not show the tons the way it was done before. I'm going to change the way the tons are displayed back to how it used to be, even if I'm not so convinced that this is how it should be done. If you score 100 + 140 and 180 in one leg, the column should read "3+1", not 1-1-1 as I would have done. The basic rule is "the number of scores from 100-180 + an extra number for the 180's".

The 2.7.3.1 version has been released. You no longer need to uninstall the old version before you install the new. The installer will uninstall and upgrade the program in one operation.
15 BICC databases from this weekend are now available for download.

Thank you to all the persons who uploaded the databases. I don't have enough space to name you all :)

A new Super League database is now available for download.

Thank you to Beryl Page for the upload.
There is a bug in the 2.7.3.0 version when you try to change the ton and score colours from the "Settings" screen. The changes are save to a wrong path in registry and therefore it will not be red back to the score sheet. Thsi bug has been fixed in the latest BETA version.

I'm still in Spain, but as long as I have internet access, I'm able to do the same things here as I do at home. The first databases from this weekends BICC matches has started to arrive. I'm going back to Norway tomorrow morning and I will be offline between 10:00 CET and 20:00 CET tomorrow.

This server will be offline for 3-4 minutes because of a restart of my router.
The Lakeside WPDC 2009 database has been updated with both the mens semi-finals, Tony O'Shea-Darryl Fitton and Ted Hankey-Martin Adams.
A new 2.7.3.1 beta version has been released. This version fixes a couple of bugs in "Pairs". When playing a pairs match, the legs for both pairs are saved with the same pair id (probably introduced in the 2.7.2.1 version or later). This bug is not visible until you open the "Match details" screen. This bug affects also printing of stats in a pairs match. When game shot in a pairs match, the wrong player was given the score and darts. The player doing the outshot gets the same number of darts and points subtracted from his stats. The overall stats for the pair will be correct, but not the stats pr. player. These bugs has been fixed in the beta version. The "Match details" screen has been improved for pairs and 4 player teams.
Darts for Windows must be installed on your computer to view the contents of the databases (complete stats, scores and drawsheets).
Click link below to download the database in .dfw format.

For those of you who doesn't know, Darts for Windows is the scoring system used on stage at Lakeside. BDO does not use markers on stage, only Darts for Windows and 4 monitors/LCD screens. This is the 4th. time Darts for Windows is used for the Lakeside.

A new BETA version has been released. I have finally managed to configure (or "trick" if you like") Installshield (the installation software) to overwrite the current DfW version without having to uninstall the old version. I have also removed the setting in the installer who is overwriting the last used database when upgrading (the overwriting was introduced in the 2.7.3.0 version). The "Match details" has been improved/facelifted (only for "Singles" and "County" at the moment).
The Lakeside WPDC 2009 database is now complete with all 4 matches from tonight. Latest match added is Martin Atkins-Gary Robson

Both the Lakeside WDPC 2009 and the Ladbrokes.com 2009 databases are now complete with all matches so far.
While going through some old stuff in my basement, I found Norway Open 1997 on a VHS tape. It showed clips from the youth, ladies and from the mens quarter, semi and finals. Sadly, it is only two 100% complete matches on the tape and that is the semi-final between Raymond van Barneveld and Mervyn King and the final between van Barneveld and Martin Adams. The sem-final was awesome ! Raymond had over 108 in average and Mervyn over 103. The database can be downloaded from the link below or from the "Downloads" menu in DfW.

Download the database into DfW from the "Downloads" menu in DfW or click link below to download manually.

The round three (last 16) match, Jelle Klaasen-Andy Hamilton has been added to the Ladbrokes.com WDC 2009 database. I will add the 2 missing round three matches + the quarter finals asap. Download the database into DfW from the "Downloads" menu or click link below to download manually.
Version 2.7.3.0 has been released. I have not had the time to create a change log this time. The most important change is the default installation folder. The 2.7.3.0 version installs the program to C:\DartsforWindows by default, but you can of course change it to the old destination folder, C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows. The reason for doing this is the sh.... Windows Vista. The "Program Files" folder in Vista is a UAC protected folder. Even if you are an administrator, you don't have admin rights. The downside of changing the default installation folder is that the installer also overwrite the setting for the last used database. The default database will revert back to "dartsforwin.dfw" every time you upgrade DfW. I don't think it is going to be a big problem, but beware of that you may have to move old databases from the C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows\database folder to C:\DartsforWindows\database the first time you upgrade DfW if you are upgrading from an older version and you install DfW to the default installation folder.

31.12.2008
21:15 CET

The new 2.7.3.0 version will be released January 1st.
Three more matches has been added to the Ladbrokes.com WDC 2009 database. The last one added was the Nicholson-Lewis match.
Download the database into DfW from the "Downloads" menu in DfW or click link below to download manually.

30.12.2008
22:20 CET

A new version, 2.7.3.0 will be released on Dec. 31. I'm rather busy with the update at the moment, that is why I'm a little behind with the Ladbrokes database. I also miss the 2 first legs and the six first darts from set 2 in the Rodriguez-Painter match. If anyone got those scores I would be very happy to get my hands on them :)
The Ronnie Baxter-Dennis Ovens match has been added to the Ladbrokes.com WDC 2009 database..

My internet connection in Spain is now working again, but even with authentication turned on on the outgoing SMTP mailserver, I'm not able to send mail. I have recieved the database from the Mick Coonan 1001 Trophy 2008. The database contains the draw and the scores and stats from the final. The Ladbrokes.com WDC 2008 database has been updated with the missing Manley-Suljovic, van der Voort-Bezzeg and Smith-Ayres matches. Download the databases into DfW from the "Downloads" menu in DfW or click links below to download manually.

24.12.2008

My free internet connection here in Spain did not last for more than a few hours so I don't have a internet connection anymore. They do have a computer in the reception, but I can not use my own computer there. I will be online again from Monday Dec. 29 at around 20:00 CET.

21.12.2008
23:50 CET

There will be no more updates from the Ladbrokes.com 2009 until next Monday. I'm of to Spain in 7 hours. I will record all the matches to my HD and update the database when I get back from Spain.
IMPORTANT NOTICE !!
I have released a new BETA version. The new version installs the program to C:\DartsforWindows by default, but you can of course change it to the old destination folder, C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows. The reason for doing this is the sh.... Windows Vista. The "Program Files" folder in Vista is a UAC protected folder. Even if you are an administrator, you don't have admin rights. The downside of changing the default installation folder is tha the installer also overwrite the setting for the last used database. The default database will revert back to "dartsforwin.dfw" every time you upgrade DfW. I don't think it is going to be a big problem, but bevare of that you may have to move old databases from the C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows\database folder to C:\DartsforWindows\database the first time you upgrade DfW. The beta version also includes a fix for the Lancashire bug. I had by accident set Lancashire to a Scotland South county instead of Lanarkshire :)

The Ladbrokes.com WDC has been updated with the Mark Stephenson v Raymond van Barneveld match. Download the database into DfW from the "Downloads" menu in DfW or click link below to download manually.

I will be in Spain (Malaga area) from Monday Dec. 22 to Monday Dec. 29. I'm not sure if I will have access to an internet connection during that period. If you are paying for a license during that time, it may take a while before you get the unlock code.

I have uploaded the database form a head to head match between Steve Maish and Simon Whitlock, played last nigh at the Crane Public House in Basildon, Essex. The match was played best of 35 legs. The match included 15 maximums and a 170 checkout from Simon. The match was won by Simon Whitlock 18-12.

07:25 CET

The default installation folder, C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows, will be changed in future versions of DfW because of the crappy Vista "User Access Control". "Program Files" folder is a UAC protected folder and will give DfW problems if you don't change the user permissions on the "Darts for Windows" folder. The next problem now is that when you uninstall DfW, all databases will still be in the \database folder so you will have to manually move the files to the new database folder. I may change the path in the registry so DfW don't detect old databases and setting, but you will still have to move the files unless I can program Install Shield to do it for me.

If these pages are a little slow, it is because the number of visitors has increased by over 500% pr day the last three days :).
The Winmau Wold Masters 2008 database is now complete with all results and stats from the stage matches, including the missing Wagner-Anderson match.
The player import files has been removed from the BICC page. There is no longer any need for the import files when you have the "ready to go" databases available. It is even easier to use a database who has allready been prepared for a BICC match. All that is missing in the "ready to go" files are the team setup (the playing order). The playing order is not known until the same day the match starts so there is not much we can do about that :)
I have also created a tutorial on the BICC page on how to download the "ready to go" files.

One more BICC database from last weekend is now available for download from the Download menu in DfW 2.7.2.2. If you want to download manually, click the link below.

Thank you to Martin Byrne, Surrey, for uploading the database.

Winmau World Masters 2008 live updates here. Darts for Windows 2.7.2.3 BETA is used for the live update from Bridlington.

04.12.2008
23:30 CET

A new BETA version has been released (link on top of this page). This is the second beta release today. When creating web outputs of a draw sheet, the web page will now refresh after 60 seconds. The page will not be put in your browsers cache either to make sure it loads a fresh copy every time. I have added this option so the live update pages from the Lakeside play offs will reload itself. The BDO has now updated their Darts for Windows version so the pages are now refreshing every 60 seconds. Fixed a saving bug in the draw sheet.

There may be some problems with computers running Windows Vista when setting up a BICC match. I'm not able to reproduce the error on my XP computer. When selecting the teams in the "Setup" screen, you may get an error message saying "Sorry, it's not allowed to have the same County on both sides !". I'm trying to create a workaround for this problem. I will start to make beta versions available for those of you who are interrested in testing new version. The first beta will be available tomorrow night.
The uploading of BICC databases has been very slow this round. It is the first time ever that I have almost more Scottish databases than the rest of England and Wales. Come on, please upload :)
I have noticed that some of you download Darts for Windows repeatedly. The link to DfW is very high speed so it will only take a few seconds to download (for me it takes 2 seconds to download 2.2 megabytes !!). There is nothing wrong with the link. It downloads so fast that you may think that nothing was downloaded !! :)

Click links below to download databases in Darts for Windows format from this weekends BICC matches or use the new download function in the 2.7.2.2 version to download the databases straight into DfW.

There was an error in the Turkish Open 2008 database. The mens singles format in the draw sheet were set to an incorrect number of legs and therefore the wrong winner was put through to the next round (only on paper of course :) in some of the matches. This was not a bug, but a human error. Click link below to download the updated database in Darts for Windows format.

28.10.2008
19:15 CET

I have had several mails from users having problems with the BICC player import files. The fact is that there are no problems, I have simply added two kinds of downloads, the "Ready to go" databases (no import needed because the import has allready been done) and the "Player import files 2008/2009". The import files are located in a separate section below the "ready to go" databases. I do of course recommend that you use the "ready to go" database because it is what is says, a database ready to be used as it is :)

I have split the databases, in the download section on the right, into three categories: YOUTH DATABASES, SUPER LEAGUE and INTERNATIONAL.

In case you did not know, it is now a lot easier to uninstall Darts for Windows (from version 2.7.1.0) when you are upgrading to a newer version. I have added a separate uninstall shortcut in the "Programs" menu (see pic below).

There was a bug in the 2.7.2.0 version when creating a new database. No County teams were added. I missed out one sinlge apostrophe in a SQL statment. I'm sorry for the trouble. A new 2.7.2.1 version is now available for download.
I have just recieved the Berwick Darts Weekend Oct. 2008 database. The database contains all draws and results + scores and stats from the stage finals. Thank you to Cliff Murray for the kind donation.

The Turkish Open 2008 database is now available for download. Mens singles won by Darryl Fitton, ladies singles won by Julie Gore. The database contains all results and draws for singles, pairs and mixed pairs + the scores and stats from the stage finals.
Two new Super League databases are now available. Thank you to John Phillips and Ian Holman for the uploads.. Click link below to download the databases in Darts for Windows format.

I'm still very surprised that many of the Darts for Windows users never upgrade to the latest version. It has up to now been free to upgrade to the latest version, no matter how old your license are. I have no intention to change this policy yet, but I may do it in the future. When you buy Darts for Windows, you will anyway have a minimum of 12 months of free upgrades. The 2.7.2.0 version is ready to be released, but I have to finish the tutorial for the new "Match Editor" before I release the new version. Please have a look at the Darts for Windows forum. You don't have to register to read the articles and news there.

I have become a sponsor for the General darts chat section at the BDO Players Forum for the next 12 months.

While going through some old darts related stuff in my basement, I found my programme from the 1996 British Pentathlon. I was very happy when I discovered that I had written down every single point from the official scoreboard. What surprised me when I added all the points to my British Pentathlon database were the 4-5 errors I found in the grand total column. Some of the players had up to 7 points too many and some had up to 6 points too few. I don't think they used computers at the Rainham Mark Social Club that day :)
Anyway, I have updated my database with the 1996 Pentathlon. To view a Pentathlon, Start DfW, open the "Tournament" screen (CTRL-T) and then click the tab "Pentathlon". Open the Pentathlons from the drop down box. All columns can be sorted by clicking the column headers.

Thank you to Dawn Speed for uploading the BICC database.

Two more databases are available for download.

Thank you to Ricky Carter and John Phillips for the uploads.

I have decided to open a Darts for Windows forum. Click here for a preview.

All the "Ready to go" databases and the "Player Import Files" for the next BICC weekend 01/11 is now availalable for download here.
I have now tested all the different game formats in the new "Match Editor". The tests were a huge success. The editor has been tested on leg matches, set matches, pairs, County, Team of 4, Six Nations, Celtic Cup, League of Legends, Super League and Premier League formats. The editor passed all tests after a few adjustments. No more problems with editing scores and darts after a match is done. I did a test today on a Super League match where the user had changed one of the teams after the match was played and some data were lost. I managed to fix the error in just a couple of minutes.

A have recieved a Lancashire Super League match from Andy Heaton.

The Sky Poker World Grand Prix 2008 database has been updated with the Taylor-Barneveld final + two missing first round matches.
The new and improved Match Editor will be included in the next version of DfW. The new editor is a huge improvement to DfW. The new editor has support for inserting, appending and deleting legs. You can also edit the scores, add more score lines and change the number of darts used in a game shot. It is also possible to change the winner of a leg. It is very flexible, but the user will be responsible to do the correct changes. When you edit a match, you will always work on a copy of the match, not the original. The original match should be deleted after the editing has been done to avoid errors in the stats and duplicate data. A new tutorial for the editor will also be available when the new release is ready. I have to test every single type of matches supported by DfW before I can release the new version.
I have just recieved a database from the Finnish ranking tournament, Tallukka 2008. Thanks to Taina for the upload.
The Welsh Masters 2008 databases has just arrived.

11.10.2008
23:40 CET

The final BICC database from Premier Division last weekend is now available for download. I have also recieved a D4 database from Alan Slight. The Sky Poker World Grand Prix 2008 database has been updated with four more matches, Priestley-King, Barneveld-Tabern and the semi-finals, Barneveld-King and Taylor-Jenkins.

10.10.2008
23:05 CET

The quarter finals between Terry Jenkins-John Part, Raymond Barneveld-Colin Lloyd and Phil Taylor-Andy Hamilton has been added to the Sky Poker World Grand Prix 2008 database.

I have started to create a tutorial for the Pentathlon.

08.10.2008
22:55 CET

I have simply forgot to create a "how-to" for the Pentathlon function in DfW :)
Thanks to Darren Hawken for giving me a hint. There is a bug in the Excel export funtion in the Matchlog window. The bug has been fixed in the new unreleased version.
I have recieved yet another database from last weekends BICC round. I have also uploaded a database with all 8 matches from last nights Sky Poker World Grand Prix 2008 + both second round matches from tonight (Lloyd-Painter + King-Eccles). This database will be updated with more matches as soon as I get the time. I have taped 15 of the first 16 matches. The only match I'm missing is the Wade-Eccles match. If someone got the scores I would be very happy to have them :)

Thank you to Paul Warwick for the BICC database upload.

I have decided to expand the Round Robin to support up to 32 players in each group. I will also set the minimum number of groups down to 1. This means that you now will be able to run a single group Round Robin (or league) with up to 32 players. This option will be available in the next version of DfW.

19.09.2008
19:35 CET

I have fixed the download link below.
Version 2.7.1.0 has been released. Click here to download.
THE OLD VERSION MUST BE UNINSTALLED BEFORE YOU CAN UPDATE (NOTHING IS LOST).

  • Added option to print alphalist of all players in the "Add Players" screen. Also option to print the alphalist with the "paid" status set.
    printalpha
  • New print layout for County and Super League matches (see pic below on how to use the new option). Sample file in PDF format
    print
  • Fixed bug in Round Robin. When createing a RR, no matter what you had set the match to it only accepted max 3 legs when you registered the match results.
  • I can now send personal messages to any DfW user. If you are connected to the internet when starting DfW, DfW will check for new messages to you on my server.
  • When printing a draw sheet, the group winners name were misaligned. Fixed
  • There is no longer necessary to close a County match between the men's and ladies matches, minimizing will do, but I do recommend to close just to make sure.
  • Fixed a bug when running several matches at the same time. Sometimes the score would be put on the wrong side of the scoresheet if it had been inactive for a while.
  • A lot of minor fixes i can't remember :)

17.09.2008
20:25 CET

The BICC player import files for the next round 04/10/2008 has been uploaded to the BICC page. The "Ready to go" databases wil be added later.
More BICC databases has arrived. Premier Division is now complete. Nottinghamshire-Bedfordshire is now complete with both A and B matches. Thank you to Martin Forsyth-Benson for the update.

I know there are many counties out there who uses DfW. I would be very happy if you could upload the databases from the BICC matches. It only takes a few seconds and can be done very easily from the "Tools" menu in DfW by clicking the item "Upload current database" (if the BICC database is the current active database) or the item "Upload any file or database" if your databas(es) are not the active one.

Thank you to John Phillips,Jacqueline Walford and Ricky Carter for uploading the databases.

UPDATE
I have managed to solve the problem when two or more score sheets are active and you minimize one the score sheet windows. It was Windows who caused the trouble. I have created a workaround, but I don't have the time to publish a new version until I get home from Spain.
I'm leaving Spain 12:00 today (checking out of the hotel in 5 minutes). I will not be available until tomorrow morning (Sunday), unless there is a internet connection available on the plane :)

12.09.2008
15:10 CET

UPDATE
Yes, there is a problem if you just minimize the score sheet between the match. Whatever you do, don't minimize, close the score sheet instead.
Here is how to do it the proper way:
Saturday:
1. Create both B teams as normal.
2. Start the men's B match.
3. Play the first 4 matches.
4. Close the score sheet (very important. Don't minimize it !!)
5. Start the ladies B match.
6. Play the first 3 matches.
7. Close the score sheet.
8. Resume the men's B match by pressing CTRL-R on the keyboard or go to the "File" menu and click the item "Restore a match". Click the men's B match from the list box to load the data from the match.
9. Play the next 4 men's matches.
10. Close the score sheet.
11. Resume the ladies B match (as described above in number 8).
12. Play the last 3 matches.
13. Resume the men's B match.
14. Play the last 4 games.
Sunday:
Do the same as above (A teams of course :)
Thats it :)

Darts for Windows has been tested on Asus Eee PC 900 and it runs like charm.
I'm leaving for Spain on Saturday 06/09. I will be back on Sunday 14/09. I will probably have an internet connection available most of the time, but I can't give any guarantee that I will be answering mail or issue unlock codes during that period.

If you pay for DfW using an eCheck (a lot of people do), don't forget that it takes PayPal 10 days to clear the check. In other words, it will take 10 days before you get the unlock code. There is nothing I can do to change this. My advice is, pay by credit card if you are in a hurry or if you are an impatient person :)

The mens Europe Cup 2008 database has been updated. Two results in the mens team Round Robin were missing.

22:35 CET

The mens Europe Cup 2008 database is now complete. The database contains all score sheets, stats and draw sheets. Thank you to Carsten Jeppesen, DDU for sending me the missing data.

Some of the mails I have sent to my customers (containing the unlock code and the instructions on how to unlock) have not been delivered for some reason. I suspect Hotmail is blocking my address, license(a)dartsforwin.com for some strange reason. If you have purchased DfW lately and you have not recieved the unlock code after 3-4 hours, please contact me asap (link on the right side).

The ladies Europe Cup 2008 databases is now complete. I still miss the mens finals from yesterday. No reply yet from the DDU. We still don't know who won the Europe Cup ... No overall results on the offical web site.

The BICC import files for the 2008/2009 season has been updated.

29.08.2008
23:00 CET

The up to date mens and ladies Europe Cup 2008 databases are now available for download. The mens team Round Robin and draw has been added to the mens database. The ladies database has been completed with the Round Robin and the pairs draw. Thanks to Evert Zomer and the DDU for the upload.

There is a bug in the Round Robinsetup. No matter what number of legs you set, it will default to best of 5 legs. The bug has been fixed. A new version of DfW will be available in a few days.

28.08.2008
19:30 CET

I have added an option to print data from BICC and Super League matches in the same format as the BDO forms (well, almost identical). The layout has been apporved by the BDO.

Thanks to John Parrack for guiding me in the right direction. The new printing option will be available in the next version.

I just found out that the sound option (click here to read the how to) does not work on Windows Vista unless you change some settings. Because of the stupid paranoid secutity settings in Vista, the sound option does not work unless you right click the "dfwsound" folder and sets the security settings for "Users" to "Full control". What a crappy operating system !!

The Dorset Open 2008 is now available for download.
Thank you to Ricky Carter for uploading the database.

The BICC import files for the 2008/2009 season has been updated. All divisions playing on 13/09 are now complete. The files will be updated if new players are added.

I'm back from Denmark :) The weather was not good until the day I left. It was raining and the wind was blowing like hell all week. Anyway, Denmark is a lovely country, cheap beer and lots of cheap first class wine :)
I'm going to create a new tutorial on how to setup the new BICC format (4 mens, 3 ladies, 4 mens, 3 ladies and finally the last 4 mens) for the 2008/2009 season using DfW.
I have recieved the Ciswo Summer 2008 database from Cliff Murray. The database contains the complete drawsheet + all scores and stats.

If you pay for DfW using an eCheck, don't forget that it takes PayPal 10 days to clear the check. In other words, it will take 10 days before you get the unlock code. There is nothing I can do to change this. My advice is, pay by credit card if you are in a hurry or you are an impatient person :)

The 2.7.0.1 version has been released.
The complete Europe Cup 2008 draw in Darts for Windows format is now available for download. The database includes all players, all draws and the men's team and ladies pairs Round Robin.

Here is the change log for the 2.7.0.1 version:
  • Fixed a bug when displaying pairs in the draw sheet using the format "Lastname/Lastname-short team name". The wrong teamname were shown for some of the pairs.
  • Added support for printing Round Robin groups (group by group or all together).
  • Added uninstall shortcut from the "programs" menu.
  • Fixed "access violation" error message when deleting a Round Robin.
  • Added support for showing a suffix when displaying player names in the draw sheet. The two new formats added are "Firsname Lastname Suffix" and "Suffix-Firstname Lastname". For example: In Europe Cup, all players have a suffix (A, B, C or D). The suffix is also handy if two players has identical names.

06.08.2008
08:00 CET

I'm finished implementing the printing option in RR and I will release the 2.7.0.1 version probably on Thursday. I'm going to Denmark on holiday on Saturday. I will be away for a week (only). During that period, I will probably not have an internet connection and I will therefore not be able to issue unlock codes or answer mails. So please hurry if you want to purchase a license :)
The how to for Round Robin has been updated this morning with a couple of changes. I have also created a PDF version of the how to.

04.08.2008
21:15 CET

The BICC format has been changed, but it should not be any problems. I will publish an article later on how to play a BICC match with the new setup.
A 2.7.0.1 version will be released in a couple of days. I have added the option to print out Round Robin groups + a couple of other fixes in the Round Robin setup.
A note on reinstallation or upgrade Darts for Windows 2008

Darts for Windows 2.7.0.0 changelog:

  • Added support for Round Robin.
  • Added support for running a Pentathlon.
  • When set to show 3 dart average, the "Match Log" will also show 3 dart average.
  • Fixed a bug when playing against a database. If the option to record darts on doubles were active, the program would go into an endless loop.
  • Added option in the "Add new player" screen to convert all names to uppercase.
  • Added option in the "Add new player" screen to capitalize the names of the players (revert uppercase).
  • Improved the "Register darts on doubles" option.
  • Added option to turn on/off the "Register darts on doubles" option by RIGHT clicking the panel between the scoresheets in the score window.
  • Added support for the Legends format (best of 12 legs or first to 7 legs). Set the format to "Premier League" and then set the legs to 12 to activate the Legends format.
The new "Match Editor" is not is this release (will be added later).

03.08.2008
21:05 CET

The 2.7.0.0 version has been released. The first version of Round Robin is now implemented, but no random draw at the moment (will be added later). I will create a how to for the Round Robin and Pentathlon in a day or two. The changelog will probably be available tomorrow. I will continue to improve the Round Robin so the next version of DfW will probably not be too far away :)

I have added support for Pentathlon in DfW. Click link below to download a database containing the British Pentathlon 2006, 2007 and 2008. To view the Pentathlon, download and open the database below, navigate to the "Tournament" screen, click the tab "Pentathlon" and then choose the Pentathlon you want to view from the drop down box. Version 2.7.0.0 must be installed on your computer to view the points from Pentathlon.

The new 2.7.0.0 version of Darts for Windows will probably be released at the end of next week. I'm too busy playing golf at the moment to finish all the small bits and pieces in DfW. The Round Robin part is 80% done (saving is working). Pentathlon is 100% done. The new "Match Editor" is not perfect yet, but it is a lot better than the old one. The support for the Legends format is 100% + I have improved the way you register throws on the double. I have also fixed a bug when registering darts on the doubles while playing against the computer (thanks to Andy Smith for pointing out the bug).

I have just recieved the database from Welsh Individual 2008. The titles were won by Robbie Green and Natalie Tucker.
Click link to download database with the scores and stats from the finals + both draws.

* To open the database, Darts for Windows 2008 must be installed on your computer.

Thank you to the boys in Welsh Darts Organisation for the donation.
I have a couple of the matches from the UK Open 2008, but I don't know if I want to publish them. The stream I was watching was so poor that I only managed to get the scores from the Wayne Jones-Gary Mawson (QF) and James Wade-Vincent van der Voort (SF). I also have the first 5 legs from the Barneveld-Mawson semi-final. I would be very happy if someone out there has som more scores for me :)
In the next version of DfW, I will add a new import/edit function who makes it possible to edit a match (injecting legs, deleting legs, changing scores, number of darts and so on) after a match is done. You can also create your own import files to import into Darts for Windows. I will also create a tutorial on how to use the new function. I will at the same time remove the "Match Editor".

The BetFred League of Legends 2008 started last weekend. Andy Scott has donated scores from two of the matches, Cliff Lazarenko v Keith Deller and Bob Anderson v Peter Evison. He has also donated the PDC US Open 2008 final. I have also created a PDC players database. The database contains 679 men's and 1 women from the PDC Order of Merit dated 19/05/2008.. Very handy for those of you doing PDC tournaments.

* To open the database, Darts for Windows 2008 must be installed on your computer.

If anyone have the scores from the other "Legends" matches, I would be very happy to have them :)

I have noticed that most of you download both the executable and the full installer of Darts for Windows. There is NO reason to download both of them. I will try to explain why.

  • If you do not have Darts for Windows on your computer, dowload the full installer, unzip the installation file and then do a full install.
  • If you have an older version of Darts for Windows installed on your computer, download the executable only. Why ?
Because you only have to overwrite the old executable with the new one. This saves you from doing a uninstallation before you can install a new updated version.

The Nordic Open 2008 was played in Finland today. Robert Wagner won the men's title and Grethel Glasö won the ladies. Click link below to download the database.

* To open the database, Darts for Windows 2008 must be installed on your computer.

In the next version of DfW, I will add support for the "Legends" format. The format is 12 legs, or first to 7. At the same time it will also be possible to play matches with even number of legs (just like the Premier League and Legends). I have set the format from 2 to 36 legs.
Example:
1. Set a match to 4 legs. The first player to win 3 legs wins the match or you can have a draw ( 2-2).
2. Set the match to 12 legs. The first player to win 7 legs wins the match or you can have a draw (6-6).
The new format must be set by using the "Premier League" format (see pic below).

The final between Phil Taylor and James Wade from the PDC Premier League 2008, is now available for download. The database also contains the Taylor-Lewis semi-final.
I noticed that SKY's stats were NOT correct for Phil Taylor in the semi-final.
I double checked to make sure. His average in the semi were higher than the one they showed on tv and so were the number of ton+'s too :)
SKY's stats were not so accurate during the final either. Sometimes they were correct, sometimes not. I have not checked PDC's stats on Planetdarts, but I will do it later.

Darts for Windows is going to be used in the Nordic Cup, played in Finland the coming weekend. I expect to have the database with the full stats on Monday.

I have always been very discreet with my customers. I never give out any of my customers names or e-mail addresses. I never send out any spam or news. The downfall of this is that many of you don't upgrade your version of DfW. In the future, I may be sending out newsletters to make sure everybody is using the latest version of Darts for Windows. Some of you big stars out there never upgrade !!!
Maybe that is why some of you are slipping down the rankings ? :)

The draw for and alpha lists for the Welsh Open 2008 has been updated with some changes.

The release last night pointed to a wrong link (the beta version with a printout bug). The links are now correct.
Some changes done to the "Tournament" screen, the layout of the assignment cards and to the alphabetical list. Also fixed a bug in the assignment cards printout. Please note that the "Executable only" update is only for users who allready has the full installation of DfW and wants to avoid uninstallation of the old version by overwriting the old executable. Downloading and running only the exe file without the installation can have unpredictable affects on the program.

It looks like PayPal or my ISP has problems with the payment notifications sent by PayPal. When customers pay using PayPal, I always recieve a payment notification just seconds after, but in the last couple of weeks, sometime I don't get the noifications at all. I therefore have to check PayPal manually for payment.

Important notice: If you pay by eCheck, it will take up to 14 days before the check is cleared. There is nothing I can do to speed up the process.
When you pay, PLEASE GO TO http://www.dartsforwin.com/paid.html AFTER THE TRANSACTION IS DONE. No unlock code is issued until the check has been cleared.
I can not guess your serial number and without the serial number I'm not able to create the unlock code.
One last thing, don't use fake mail addresses at PayPal. If you do, I will not be able to send you the information on how to get the unlock code.

I have decided to postpone the new version because I want to add a couple more functions. I will also check a couple of other things who needs improvement. I have also done a couple of changes to the unfinished "Round Robin" function. I have changed the maximum number of player in a group from 8 to 10 players. I haved also fixed a bug in the "Match Viewer" and the "Match details" screen. When clicking the "Go to last leg" button in a County match in the "Match Viewer", the numbering of the players would be incorrect. In the "Match Details" screen, the total team average was totally out of sync in county matches due to a numbering bug. It took me 5 seconds to fix it....
Another database from the last BICC round has just arrived. A big thank you to John Williams, Gwynedd for the donation. He worked really hard for this one :)

Please not that the "Executable only" update is only for users who allready has the full installation of DfW and wants to avoid uninstallation of the old version by overwriting the old executable. Downloading and running only the exe file without the installation can have unpredictable results on the program
As a result of the weak Pound Sterling, I have to rise the price pr. license to £20 from 01/05/2008.

01.04.2008
09:55 CET

I have had a couple of reports of problems with DfW this weekend. I have one report of problems with the arrow indicator pointing randomly to the wrong side.
This error was caused by the user closed the program in the middle of the match and then restarted the match later using the "Resume a match" function. In set/county matches, the arrow indicator goes bananas after a while if you use the "Resume a match" function. Will be fixed asap.
Another report is a colour distortion on the screen showed between County matches. The colour distortion is not DfW related, but it is related to the graphics driver or the projector not able to show scrolling text. To overcome this problem I will remove the scrolling text and replace it with static labels instead, simple as that. I have also had two reports on the score column has disappeared. This problem is caused by a new resizing algorithm of the score sheet introduced in the 2.6.0.9 version. I have finally managed to reproduce the problem. If you click on the points left column when the scoresheet has a certain size, the scorecolumn will scroll out of view because of one single pixel is lost in a rounding of a number function used in the resizing function :) I fill fix the "score out of view" today, but no new version will be published until I have fixed the "arrow" problem. The arrow indicator problem will take a little longer so in the mean time, don't use the "Resume a match" function if you are in a middle of a county or set match .

I have recieved some of the databases from this weekens BICC matches (PD is complete).

The database from this weekends EDO and EDC event, England vs Europe is now available for download.

  • Fixed the "Access violation" bug when opening the "Options" screen.
  • Fixed bug in the pairs draw in the "Tournament" screen (bye's disappearing when inserting players).
  • Fixed bug in "Average by match". Super League matches did not show W/L correct.
  • Changed the filter in "Average by match". Super League and County matches now uses the same filter.
  • In the "Tournament" screen, when inserting players, players allready in the draw is not listed in the players list anymore.
  • Changed som code in the "Upload current database". The zip file uploaded were sometimes empty if the current database was not in the default path.
  • Can't remember the rest ... :)

Version 2.6.0.9 is a critical update. The 2.6.0.8 version had a serious bug in the "Tournament" screen. When I was testing the new options in the "Tournament" screen last night, I only tested with a complete draw sheet. When I ran som new tests this morning on a empty draw, I discovered that I had totally screwed up the function who reads the draw from the database. I have fixed all know bugs and tested as much as I had the time to. For me it now looks ok.

15.03.2008
09:50 CET

Version 2.6.0.8 has been released. It is now possible to show only last names instead of full names in the main screen. I had to add this option because of Raymond van Barneveld. His name is so long and when the PDC uses DfW on stage for the Premier League, the names gets simply too small :)
I have also fixed the font scaling in the score sheet in the main screen and also in the Match Viewer screen.
In the Tournament screen when doing draws with more than 32 players, the last 32 players in the draw will also be available in a separate tab named "The Finals". When a draw gets very big, it's hard to navigate. To solve this the "The Finals" tab has been added. I have also done some work on the Round Robin, but there's a lot more to do before it can be used.
I have recieved the database with the complete Torremolinos Open 2008 draws + all scores and stats from the finals.

The Lancashire-Middlesex BICC players import file has been reuploaded because of change in one of the names. The file is available on the BICC page.

I have just recieved my new ceramic darts from www.ceramicdarts.nl. They look great !!
I'm going to test them now and I will post here what I think about them.
I have the C-Grip M1 Titanium 25 gr darts. Thank you to Ad Schoofs and www.ceramicdarts.nl for letting me test the new darts.

UPDATE: My first 3 darts without warming up were T20,20,T20 :)
I'm testing the darts playing cricket, using DfW of course.

UPDATE 2: These are the best darts I've ever tested. I have hit at least one treble out of 3 darts every time. The reason I think is that I have always had a problem with dry fingers. I never play well the first 20 minutes because my fingers are to dry, but for the first time ever, the grip was perfect right from the start. The darts simply stuck to my fingers the perfect way. You can get the ceramic darts in blank and matte. Blank for me would probably have been a disaster, but the matte darts were excellent for me. I'm not sure if these darts are available to Joe Public yet, but I know that Barney have tested them. My darts are shaped almost like the old Alan Glazier darts, in other words, probably the same one as Barney used :)

A new tutorial is now available. I was supposed to create a tutorial for the new crikcet feature but I changed my mind and created a new tutorial for setting up a Super League matches instead. Thank you to Beryl Page for the tip :)

The Word file has better image quality than the PDF file.

The 2.6.0.7 version is now available for download. I will create a tutorial for the Cricket option tomorrow. The Cricket option can be operated from the keyboard without using a mouse.

07.03.2008
23:30 CET

The new 2.6.0.7 version will probably be released tomorrow, Saturday, in the afternoon. There is a bug in the "Pairs" screen who has been fixed. I have also added the option to choose between 4,5 or 6 visible lines of scores in the scoresheet. i have also done a few other adjustments and bugfixes. The new version will also have Cricket darts.
I had by accident deletet all the BICC import files for Scotland North and Scotland South for 29/03/2008. New files has been uploaded.

I am very suprised of the fact that there are so "few" people, compared to how many licenses I have sold, who updates to the latest version of Darts for Windows. All licenses from October 2005 and up to this date is still valid for free updates.A lot of my customers thinks that they can't update because they are not connected to the internet (you don't have to be) or when trying to update, the computer complaints about a version is allready installed. Just uninstall the old version and then install the new one. Nothing is lost :). If you can't find the unlock code or have any problems, drop me a mail. It took Martin Adams two years to update to the latest version. I had to talk him into it when I spoke to him at Winmau WM :) ...and Raymond, it's free for you too :)
IT'S FREE FOR GOD'S SAKE - WHY DON'T YOU UPGRADE ? :)

I have recieved two more databases from this weekends BICC round.
Click link below to download.

I will release a new version of DfW in a few days, but from now on I will have two types of download. For upgrading to the latest version, you only have to download the EXE file and overwrite the current one in the installation folder. The second download is the full installer. By upgrading only the EXE file, no reinstallation is needed :)
I have tested the new Cricket feature in DfW and I must admit that I like it :)
I'm no expert on Cricket darts so don't expect miracles or any kind of spectacular stats, but if anyone can give me a hint i the right direction, I will of course do something about it. I have also added the option to adjust the numer of lines shown in the scoresheet. In all versions up to this date, 5 lines of scores were shown, but from the next version you can set the number of lines from 4-6 (12 to 18 darts). The option will be placed in the "Options" screen (Extended options).
The player import files for the next BICC weekend 29/03/2008is now available here. Division Two will be available soon.

04.03.2008
22:45 CET

The player import files for the next BICC round is now available for download from the BICC page. At the moment I have only created import files for Premier Division and Division One. The rest of the divisions will follow as soon as I get the updated list of players from the BDO. Please read the tutorial on the BICC page on how to import the players.
I have created a new tutorial on how to upload or distribute Darts for Windows databases.

I have also decided to include a simple version of Cricket darts in the next release of DfW. In Norway we call this type of game for Mickey Mouse :)

03.03.2008
14:40 CET

The database from Finnish Open 2008 is now available for download.
Robert Wagner "gave" the title to Steve West by missing loads of doubles in the final leg.
Just to make sure the check for updates are working, I have released version 2.6.0.6. The new version also contains a sneak preview of the Round Robin layout in the "Tournament" screen and a bugfix in the county team screen. When saving a county team, the display name was not set to "Teamname MA", "Teamname WA" and so on. This has now been fixed.
The new web server script used for unlocking Darts for Windows, had a nasty bug preventing the automatick unlock function to work properly. The script bug is now fixed.
I have also recieved some of the databases from this weekends BICC matches.
Click link below to download.

Thank you all for datbase donations.

The 2.6.0.5 version is now available for download. I have added automatic check for updates in the new version. I have also improved the report when printing the details from a Six Nations match. The registration window has also been improved and is now far more intuitive (I hope). The work with support for Round-Robin tournaments has also begun.
The new upload database function in DfW seems to be very popular :)
When you upload a database, it will not be visible in the download section until I have approved the database (if I do...:) ).

25.02.2008

The complete database from the Six Nations Cup 2008 is now available for download. Congratulations to Wales for winning the title. I have also recieved a Youth County match from Ricky Carter, Dorset County. The match between Dorset and Hampshire was played last weekend.

Click here to download the database from the Six Nations Cup 2008. The database contains the results and stats from day 1. The matches continues tomorrow morning at 10:00 GMT.

PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE NEW 2.6.0.4 VERSION IF YOU HAVE 2.6.0.3 ON YOUR COMPUTER.
Version 2.6.0.4 has been released because of a serious bug in the main screen in the 2.6.0.3 version. When game shot, the dialog box with the number of darts used in the checkout did not show. I simply had forgot to initiate a variable in my code.

Thank you to Marc Evans for the results from "Trumpet House Premier League" :).
Marc was the first person to test the new upload function in DfW. Marc played 4 matches against Graham Fillery and here are the results:
Marc Evans v Graham Fillery 3-8
Marc Evans v Graham Fillery 8-3
Marc Evans v Graham Fillery 6-8
Marc Evans v Graham Fillery 8-5

Averages: Marc 15.75
Graham 15.92
Keep on practicing boys :)

Version 2.6.0.3 is now available for download, I have fine tuned a couple of screens and also changed a few things.
I have also added an option to backup the active database, zip compress it, and upload it directly to my server. Very handy for posting databases to this site with little or no computer knowledge. Feel free to try out this option :) (see the picture below)

Version 2.6.0.2 has been released today. This version fixes bugs in the "Match Details", "County" and "Super League" screens. Support for the PDC Premier League format (14 legs, or first to 8) has been added to the new version.

Version 2.6.0.1 has been released. The program has undergone a massive overhaul under the hood. Super League is no longer limited to 7 mens or 5 women. A Super League team can now be setup with 3 to 12 players.
The setup window has changed a lot, but it should be rather easy to use. The player names and teams is now in the setup window instead of its own screen. I have also added some extended options in the "Options" screen.
The colours in the score sheet has changed. It is now possible to turn on/off the divider in the score sheet and also change the colour of the scores and points left. The size of the averages box can now be set to "Large" or "Normal" in the "Options" screen. I have also fixed a lot of minor bugs found along the way. I will also add support for the Premier League format in a few days. The PL format is 14 legs or first to 8 legs and is used by the PDC.

All Premier Division matches from last weekend is now available for download on my BICC page.
www.dartsforwin.com and www.dartsforwindows.com is now online again. My server has never been down more than a few minutes the last 30 months, but as soon as I left for Portugal last Saturday, the power on my server said goodbye. I was lucky to get hold of a new power at Wortens in Albufeira. I came home this morning at 04:00 from Portugal. Around 09:15 last Sunday, this server went down. I was also without an internet connection at my hotel so I felt very frustrated because of the "isolation" and my server problems :). I have been working on DfW the whole week and I have rewritten thousands of lines of code to prepare the program for more improvements. I'm almost done with the coding, but it will still take some time to test it for bugs. I have also done a few changes, requested by the PDC. The size of the averages boxes can now be set to a very much larger size (two settings, normal and large). I hope I will have the new 2.6 version ready by the end of the week.

Darts for Windows 2008 is now used by the PDC at Premier League. They still use markers on stage, but they now have DfW on two monitors on stage. DfW must be set to "Best of unlimited" legs when used at the Premier League, because of the option to get a draw in the match.
I'm leaving for Portugal on Saturday 2nd. I'll be in Albufeira until Sunday 10th of February. I may have internet connection most of the time, but I'm not 100% sure. If you buy a license during that period, please be patient as it may take a little while before you get the confirmation and the unlock code.
I'm working with the Super League and the new "Match Wizard". A new version should be available in a couple of weeks.

The database from today's Tyne & Wear Open 2008 Presented by Stella Artois is now available in the database download section on the right side. Thank you to Alan Slight for donating the database. The database includes the complete men's draw with all the results + the scores and stats from the stage matches.

I'm going to improve the Super League and County part of Darts for Windows. The Super League part is simply not good enough. I was not aware of all the different game formats. What I want now is to change the setup so the SL team can consist of 3 to 12 players. I would be very happy for some feedback regarding the SL playing format.
The "Match wizard" screen is undergoing a facelift to make it easier to operate.
I would like to thank all the counties for the donations of DfW databases. I still want more databases. Take a look at my BICC page, maybe you have a missing database to add to the list.

All databases from this weekends BICC Premier Division is now available for download on the BICC page. I have also added about 10 databases from the 2007/2008 season.

It is very important that you all follow the instructions when buying a license. If you register at PayPal with a fake email address when using a credit card, I will not be able to send you the instructions on how to get your unlock code. As soon as you have paid for a license, go to http://www.dartsforwin.com/paid.html and follow the instructions there.

Because of the value of GBP (£) has dropped over 20% against the Norwegian NOK the last 18 months, I may have to raise the price from £19 to £21 pr. license in the near future to cover my costs. If I do, I will give a two weeks notice on this page. The price is anyway very low compared to what the software can do and the time I spend on developing it.

In case you did not know, Darts for Windows is the software used by the BDO on stage at Lakeside for all scores and stats. The BDO does not use markers on stage, only Darts for Windows.

A new version of DfW will be available in a few days. As soon as the 2008 Ladbrokes.com is over, I will get some time to add some new features to DfW before Lakeside starts. In the new version there will now be an option to backup the current active database. The backed up database will be compressed in ZIP format to make it smaller. I will also add the option to show the total number of games won in a BICC match, making it easy to see what the total score is. I will also start to create BICC import files for downloading from my site, containing all the BICC players registered in the current season, county by county. This will save all the Counties using Darts for Windows all the typing of the players names. Each file will contain all the players for each match (you may have to add new players to the database if the player does not exist in the current season in the BDO archives).
The new BICC page with the import files can be found here.

Kirk Shepherd and John Part is in the final of 2008 Ladbrokes.com WDC. 1st. semi-final result: John Part-Kevin Painter 6-2
2nd semi-final result: Kirk Shepherd-Wayne Mardle 6-4

The 2008 Ladbrokes.com WDC database now contains 47 matches, including the semi-finals, John Part-Kevin Painter and Kirk Shepherd-Wayne Mardle. I have also added the missing first round matches, Denis Ovens-Colin Monk, Mark Dudbridge-Steve Hine and Barrie Bates-Gerry Convery to the db. The drawsheet has also been updated with the results and I have also added the match start time to the drawsheet. I'm still a few matches behind, but I will continue to add as many as possible. It takes a lot of time to watch every match and enter the scores into DfW because almost all matches has went to a tie breaker. I don't have the video of a couple of the matches so the database will not be complete, unless someone has all the the data for the matches I'm missing. I forgot to put on my recorder yesterday so I missed the Shepherd-Manley match. Don't forget that is is also possible to play against all the legs/players/matches in the 2008 Ladbrokes.com WDC database. Take a look at this article on how to do it (not possible in the demo version).

Version 2.5.1.17 is now available for download. The bugs in the "Tournament" screen has been fixed. When loading a saved drawsheet, the match format data was cleared after loading (the best of legs/sets settings). The missing data led to some trouble when starting a match straight from the drawsheet and also when entering the results of a match into the drawsheet, the winning player was not moved automatically to the next match.
The Ladbrokes.com database has been updated with three of the matches from today, Painter-Mason, Shepherd-McGowan and Lewis-van der Voort. The complete drawsheet has also been added to the database. The database now contains 28 first and second round matches.

The Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship database now contains 20 of the first and second round matches, including the second round matches, Scholten-King and Taylor-Walsh. The database also contains the fantastic match between Jelle Klaasen and Vincent van der Voort who went all the way to sudden death. The match includes 18 x 180's, 12 by Vincent, 6 by Jelle.

A new version is out.
I managed by accident to turn off the tie-break option in set matches a couple of months back without anyone noticing it... What I did was simply setting a sign to point in the wrong direction in the source code
(<= instead of >=). I'm glad there were no tie-breaks on stage at Winmau when I was there... :)
I have also fixed the stupid "LEGS WON" bug in the main screen. Those boxes were ment for County matches, but they will be replaced by the total number of matches won in a County match instead. The database from Ladbrokes.com has been updated tonight's matches, Maish-Priestley, Lewis-Askew and Barneveld-Forde.

I'm too busy at the moment watching darts on TV, so not much has been done lately :)

The Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship database has been updated with three new matches. I'm a few matches behind, but I will continue to update the database when I get the time.
Click link below to download the database in Darts for Windows format.

There is a couple of bugs in the 2.5.1.14 version. When hiding the averages and then showing them again, two boxes marked "LEGS WON" will also be shown. The tie-break option in set matches does not work at the moment. A new update will be released within the next couple of days.

The Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship has just started tonight.
Alan Tabern (ave 29.39) won 3-1 in sets against Denmark's Per Laursen (ave 28.06). Per got punished for missing doubles like he did last year when he lost to Dennis Priestley in the second round.
Wayne Mardle (ave 30.37) is also through to the next round after beating Ray Carver (ave 30.10) 3-2 in an exiting match. The datbase now contains two of the first three matches. I will add the last two matches tomorrow.

The database section has been updated with 4 new databases from this weekends BICC matches.

Thank you to Wayne Williams, John Weller, Steve Mann, Cliff Murray and Beryl Page for the donations.
Please donate datbabases if you use Darts for Windows for tournaments or BICC. I will post ANY database :)

Version 2.5.1.14 is out.
Fixed bug when saving the Match Log to PDF. Fixed bug in floating window. This bug caused a random "Access violation".
New feature: Save data from a County match in BDO readable format. Complete data from a BICC match can now be exported from DfW. This gives you an option to send all results from a BICC match electronically to your Bdo Executive. A new "How to" will be available later tonight for this new feature.

03.12.2007
23:30 CET

A new "How to" is available. It is now possible to create BDO compatible export files from DfW. Create the export file using DfW and mail your files to your BDO Executive. This will speed up the time it takes for the BDO to publish the full results from County weekends on http://www.bdodarts.com

30.11.2007
23:15 CET

A new version is out.
Fixed bug when printing a draw sheet with 128 players, only the first 4 pages were printed instead of 5 (the 5th is the finals). The printout of all players in alphabetical order from a draw sheet did cut off some players at the end. This is now fixed.

29.11.2007
18:00 CET

Version 2.5.1.12 is now available for download.
New features:

  • Download Darts for Windows 2008 v 2.5.1.12
  • Enlarged the boxes in the (black) stats screen
  • Number of legs won shown in the stats screen in county matches
  • Support for up to 2048 players in drawsheet.
  • When double clicking in the legs and shots screen, the match viewer will now browse to the correct leg.
  • Add all players to a draw sheet with just one click of a button.
  • Added support for Mixed Pairs matches.
  • Added support for Mixed Pairs and Mixed Youth tournaments
  • Option to place byes evenly in groups in draw sheet
  • When setting up a County team, only players assigned to a County will be shown.
  • Total legs for both teams in County matches
  • Redesigned the screen for setting up County teams.
  • Expanded the size of the players name in main screen.
  • Changed the output of data from County matches.
  • Added more filters to draw sheet (how to display players names).
  • A lot of minor bugfixes.
The setup of BICC County matches are the winner this time. DfW will soon have support for exporting in BDO readable format. This will save the Counties a lot of paper work when reporting the scores to your BDO Executive. When setting up a BICC match in the new version, the correct division and match type (A or B) MUST be set when you create a new team. When registering players for a county match, the players county MUST be picked from the list. No more team names like "Xxxxxx Men's A" and so on. A player must be assigned to the correct county, fex. Devon, Kent, Lancashire and so on to make it compatible to the BDO standard. The PDF and Word version of "How to setup a BICC County match" has also been updated.

28.11.2007
22:15 CET

The new 2.5.1.12 version will be released tomorrow night. The update is done, but I have to update all the documation before I can release the new version. Most of the changes are related to the County match setup.
The new "How to setup a BICC match in Darts for Windows" is now available for download. This "how to" is for the new 2.5.1.12 version.

Note that a few players has the same name in the 2048 draw, but the players are not identical so it is not an error :)

Oxygen Interactive, the copyright holder of a ceratin pc game, have asked me to remove the "howto" for using sound files with DfW. Since I'm not breaking any Norwegian laws, I have decided to not remove the html page. I have rewritten the "howto" for using certain sound files with Darts for Windows. This server does not contain any copyrighted sound files or any illegal files, only a document on how to play sound files from other programs/games in DfW (I'm not going to name the pc game here). If you buy the pc game or download the demo, I'm not responsible for how you use the files or what program you use to play them.
The new version of DfW is ready, but I have to rewrite the "How to setup a BICC match" before I can release the new version.

I have had two reports of virus in the latest version of Darts for Windows. The Darts for Windows executable is compressed and encrypted to prevent hacking and some of the free virus checkers detects the compression method as a virus. I have always the latest virus definition files on all my computers and servers. I use commercial virus chekcers instead of the freeware, so I don't get those kind of false alarms.

The database from Winmau World Masters 2007 is now available for download. Congratulations to Robert Thornton for winning the Winmau World Masters 2007. Robert threw 24 maximums in his stage matches :)
It was a real pleasure to watch him on stage. He played fantastic darts in all his stage matches. Robert also qualified for the Lakeside 2008.
Karin Krappen won the ladies, Kimberley Lewis took the girls title and Shaun Griffths won the boys title.

Thank you to the BDO for donating the database.

John Walton did a 9 darter in the Winmau World Masters a few minutes ago. I was watching the game, but I left the room just a couple of minutes before he did the 9 darter.... Congratulations to John "Boy" for doing the 9 darter on stage. It was also recorded by the BBC.

I am hosting the drawsheets and results from Winmau World Masters 2007 and Lakeside 2008 Play-Offs for the World Darts Federation. The internet service provider used by the WDF are freezing all accounts on their servers for one week because of a upgrade. The notice was made just a few hours before they closed the access to the servers....

The database with the stage finals from Czech Open 2007 is now available for download. Version 2.5.1.2 is also out. There was a bug in the "Match Details" screen in the 2.5.1.1 version. When showing the match details for a county match with less than 12 players on the team, all the stats for the away team would fail to show (blank lines only).

Thank you to the President of the Czech Darts Organisation, Mr. Jan Prikryl for the donation.
The database section contains now 82 datbases, so I probably have to redesign the download section in the near future. Most of the documentation is also rather outdated. My problem is that I'm simply to busy to catch up with the docs.

It looks like I finally have solved the problems running Darts for Windows 2008 on Windows Vista. I had to rewrite a lot of the code to avoid the problems caused by Vista. I had to remove the configuration file "dartsforwin.ini" from the C:\Windows directory and place all the DfW settings in the registry instead. The drawback of this is that when you start the new version (2.5.1.1) , all your previous settings (colours, sound settings and so on) will be lost and reset to default.I also had to rewrite the online registration of DfW. When you click the link "I'm allready registered - Download unlock code", you will be asked to enter the name you used when you registered your license, to confirm the registration.
Click link below to download the new version.

I have improved the tournament part a bit by adding a lot of filters to the draw sheets, giving the user a lot of options on how to display players/pairs in the draw sheet. I have also created an import and export function of scores in DfW, making it easy to copy scores from other databases. I have no documentation on how to use the import/export function at the moment, but I will create a "how to" when I get the time. I have also added a few filters in the import of players function. It is now possible to set the sorting of the players in the following order:
Alphabetical-Firstname Lastname
Alphabetical-Lastname Firstname
Alphabetical-Teamname, Firstname Lastname
Alphabetical-Teamname, Lastname Firstname

The new version will be available for download Sunday 04.11.2007 at approx 21:00 CET. I have just tested DfW once again on Windows Vista. For me as an IT person, I must say, what a crappy operating system !
I managed to get DfW up and running by changing the security on the DfW install folder (I changed it to C:\Darts) and then running the program as "Administrator" by right clicking the shortcut on the desktop. I also had to enter my name and unlock code manually to let Vista accept DfW writing the license to a small text file and unlock it. If I clicked the link in DfW to register automatically, I got an "File access" error all the time. I also got the classic "Software protection error: 006". What a piece of sh... from Micro$oft. It is only an innocent text file DfW writes to, not a virus or malware program !
I still don't know how to solve the Vista problem. I will probably find a solution to the problem when I have done a few more tests. I bought the Vista license a few months back, but I have refused to use Vista until now. I have XP on a separate hard-disk so I can switch the OS any time I want. I only want to use Vista for finding a solution to the DfW problem. As soon as the problem has been solved, bye, bye Vista !

A new version of Darts for Windows is just around the corner. I used the export/import function to go through all 575 matches from the World Cup 2007 databases and checking them for errors and also merging all matches into one database. I have also added a few filters in the import of players function. It is now possible to set the sorting of the players in the following order:
Alphabetical-Firstname Lastname
Alphabetical-Lastname Firstname
Alphabetical-Teamname, Firstname Lastname
Alphabetical-Teamname, Lastname Firstname

I'm in Palm Springs at the moment, leaving for Las Vegas in 10 minutes. Palm Spring is a fantastic place. Easy access to the booze (cheap to) and it's is a lot warmer here than in Los Angeles.I have watched a lot of darts today from the SBS6 stream. I do have the databases from the World Cup 2007, but I miss the finals and I'm also going to merge all the databases into one.

Greetings from Santa Barbara, California. I finally have an internet connection again, but only for a few hours before I leave for Palm Springs tomorrow morning, well it's actually today for the europeans because it is still Friday night here in the US. On Sunday I leave for Las Vegas. I do hope they have an intenet connection at the Venetian where I'm staying. I unfortunately introduced a bug in the County setup in DfW when I introduced the support for the Celtic Cup format. I forgot to turn off a testbit in the code when I was testing the Celtic Cup format. When trying to setup ta County match in the 2.5.0.24 version, it was asking for Celtic Cup teams every time. This bug has been fixed in the 2.5.0.25 version released today.
I'm in Long Beach, California at the moment. Luckily there was an internet connection in my hotel room. I'm leaving for Mexico in a few hours.

I'm leaving for USA on Sunday and I will be gone until 22nd of October. During that period, my internet connection may be very limited. For some strange reason, everytime I go on holiday or I am unavailable, I sell more licenses than ever, even if I tell everyone that I am not able to issue any unlock codes until I get back :)
If you need a license, please order before 20:00 CET on Saturday 6th of October, unless you want to wait until the 22nd.

Version 2.5.0.24 of Darts for Windows is out. Click here to download
New featues:

  • Support for Celtic Cup teams (13 men, 7 ladies)
  • Assign sound files to players. The PDC sound files must be installed
  • Added support for the "gsm.wav" sound file from the PDC game
  • The scoresheet windowsize is saved and restored at next match
  • Added option to hide the status bar in the main window
  • Added option to show a floating window in the bottom of the screen with the players name, points left, darts and legs to use in television production. This option must be turned on in the scoresheet window by right clicking between the scoresheets.
  • Added option to move the top panel in the scoresheet window to the bottom of the screen when used with the floating stats window.
  • The "How to use the sound files...." has been updated.
  • ...can't remember the rest of the new features... :)

Darts for Windows 2008 v.2.5.0.18 is now released.
Added support for the gls_xx.wav from the PDC World Championship Darts pc game. The gls_xx.wav files are the "Game shot and the x set" sound when playing a set match. See this article on how to add the sound effects to Darts for Windows 2008.
When playing against the computer in "match mode" (playing against mathces from a database), the program would go into an endless loop of "No score" after playing the number of legs from the original match. This bug is now fixed.
Setting board numbers and board time in a drawsheet in the "Tournament" screen has also been improved.
Click link to download latest version.

Thank you to Mr. Hywel Llewellyn for donating the Super League database.

I have started to develope the next generation of Darts for Windows. The new product will be named Darts for Windows Professional. I'm going to rewrite the database engine and also the "motor" running DfW. The 2008 version has very complicated code so I have to rewrite the whole program from the bottom to add support for all the options I want to inlcude. I will try to make it more user friendly and fool proof. The option to browse all the legs while playing and also correction of errors in past legs. Add option for livescore on the internet and also internet play. I also want to improve the tournament part and also add Round Robin to the tournament option. Custom templates for custom games would also be nice. For example, create your own team type with any number of players and game format (mix singles and pairs for example in the same template). I have a lot of ideas, but it will of course take time. The price will also be higher than the 2008 version.

The 2.5.0.11 version have some bugs in the county setup.
MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE 2.5.0.12 VERSION WHO WILL BE RELEASED TONIGHT BEFORE YOU USE DFW IN A BICC COUNTY MATCH !
For once I have really made a fool out of myself when it comes to the county setup. I did a typing error causing a few problems...:(
A new updated version of "How to setup a BICC match in Darts for Windows" is available for download. It will also be included in the setup when installing the new version of DfW releasing later tonight.Download: Word PDF.
Known bugs in the 2.5.0.11 version of DfW:
There is a bug when printing a match in "BDO style". For some reason, the text on the printout is no longer transparent, covering some part of the lines dividing names and numbers.
When registering a new county team and you click outside the screen, the "County teams" will disappear. Minimize the program and the screen will be behind the program.
When editing an existing 12 players team, the team is set to 6 players and the last 6 boxes will be grayed out.
A new fixed version will be released tonight.

The British Inter-County Championships is starting on the weekend of Sept. 1-2. Darts for Windows 2008 has full support for the BICC format. Because of the new season start, I have decided to add some changes to DfW to improve the county part. All active counties in Great Britain have been added to the team names by default. A new field called "Display" (display name) have been added to the coming version. The display name is the name the team will be shown as.
Example: You create a county team and pick "Devon" as the team. In addition you can let "Devon" be shown as "Devon A" or "Dev Men’s A" or "Devon Men’s under 21" or whatever in the "Display name" box. The team will still be associated with Devon County.
Full support for youth county matches ("Men's Under 21", "Ladies Under 21" and "Under 18") will be added to the next release of DfW. The new version will hopefully be ready in a day or two.
Support for use of the announcer sound files from the computer game PDC World Championship Darts will also be implemented (wav files must be copied to the \dfwsound folder and the sound must be enabled from the "Settings -> Options" menu).

20.08.2007
20:00 CET

There is a bug in version 2.5.0.9. When adding new players, the team name dropdown box does not reset after adding a player. If you continue to add players with the same teamname, you will get the message Saving aborted. Blank firstname, lastname or team not allowed ! when trying to save. A quick fix for this is to reselect the team. A new version will be released as soon as possible.

18.08.2007
18:55 CET

Version 2.5.0.9 is released. Click here to download.
The bug in the "Autoplay" function is now fixed. When playing against the computer, the panel with the text "Throwing..." was not closing after the first leg was done. Added support for import and export of players in CSV format in the "Add new players" screen. All the BICC counties has also been added to the team names. You will now hoe the option to chose from normal teams and countries, BICC Counties only or both (in the "Add new players" screen). The drawsheet in the "Tournaments" screen is now searchable.
I always forget what kind of improvements and bug fixing I have done... :)

14:25 CET

I have added search capabilities in the drawsheet for the coming release of Darts for Windows. When you have a draw with for example 512 players, like they have in this weekends British Classic 2007, it takes forever to locate a player in the draw. The new option to search for a name or part of a name, saves you a lot of time. If you get a hit, the box also changes background colour to green and the drawsheet scrolls down to the box. If anyone needs this option now, drop me a mail and I will send a link to the unreleased version.
The Stan James 2007 database has been updated with the Taylor-Scholten match from yesterday.

Version 2.5.0.7 is now out Click here to download.
Fixed a bug when starting a pairs match + some minor things. The most exiting new feature is in the "Autoplay" match/player mode. When the computer is scoring, the scores is now shown in text format, throw my throw.
Example for a 100 score:
SINGLE 20
*wait for next dart*
SINGLE 20
*wait for next dart*
TREBLE 20
Enjoy the new release.

22.07.2007
17:05 CET

There is a "bug" (or feature) in the latest version of Darts for Windows. When I was fixing a bug in the previous version, I forgot to turn of a debug message when starting a pairs match. You will get a dialog box with the database query, 4 times in a row before you can start a pairs match. This message will not prevent the program from working, it is only very annoying.

21.07.2007
12:40 CET

The focus is now on the improvement of the "Autoplay" function. Playing against matches/players in "Autoplay" mode is the most exiting new feature in the program for a long time. When playing against a player or a complete database, the name of the player you play against is now shown in the statusbar (not released yet). I will soon start developing the option for "Internet Play". I will at the same time include an option to exchange/send databases to other users by a single click of a button. An option to use the program for broadcasters is also going to be included. Dartsinmotion.nl is going to use DfW for the on-screen stats when streaming matches over the internet. Darts in Motion will be streaming darts on the 25th of July on www.dartsinmotion.nl.

After implementing the option to play against matches/players in a DfW database, my averages has raised by 5 points pr. dart (or 15 if you like the 3 dart average). I'm playing against the complete Lakeside 2007 database. That means all the matches, both men and women. Last night I even had a 9 darter attempt. I hit back to back 180's, but lost the leg (missed bull with my 12th dart). My revenge was a 156 checkout in the next leg. It's a lot easier to rise your game when playing against the big scores. I am 18-7 down after 25 legs. I average around 27 pr dart (81), the computer averages around 28.3 at the moment. The nice thing is that when I'm done with this match, I can use all the legs I played in the match and then play against them too :)

A new bug fixed version of Darts for Windows 2008, 2.5.0.4, is now available for download. There was a bug in the tournament screen when trying to start a pairs match from the drawsheet, you would get the error:
At most one record can be returned by this subquery.
Click here to download the new version.
The database from Gold Cup 2007 is now in the download section. The zip file contains two databases, ladies singles and mens singles.

I just found a video clip from the News Of The World 1979 final on YouTube. The final was only best of 3 legs (all the matches were best of 3 legs). Bobby George played some excellent darts. Click here to download the database.

Some users still have problems running Darts for Windows on Vista. I simply hate Windows Vista. The secutity is tight as a ducks a.... The security is so tight that it prevents normal, harmless programs like DfW to run properly even if you are an Admin One solution to the problem is the following:

If you get the "Failed to set..." problem do the following:
On Windows Vista [Failed to set data for ''] error occurs on some occasions.
Temporary Solution: Left-click program's shortcut, click Properties and on the Compatibility page, check Run this program as an administrator. The problem is that Vista does not allow DfW to save some settings, even if you are logged in as admin.
The second solution:
1. Click on the "Start" button
2. Click on the "Computer" on the right side to list the disk drives.
3. Doubleclick on the C drive
4. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows folder
5. Right click on the "Darts for Windows" folder and click on the menu item "Properties" (the last choice in the menu)
6. Click on the "Security" tab (no. 3 from the left)
7. Click on the user "Users(%COMPUTER_NAME%\Users)" (%COMPUTER_NAME% is the name of your computer)
8. Click the button "Change" (or "Edit". I'm not sure because my version of Vista is Norwegian)
9. Click in the next window on the same user ("Users(%COMPUTER_NAME%\Users)") and tick the box "All permissions".
10. Click "Ok" to save the changes and then "Ok" in the prior window
11. It should now work :)

I'm playing at the moment against ALL players from the Lakeside 2007 database.
If you check the box "All matches" when playing against the computer in "match" mode, you play against all male and female players in the whole database (in my sample, Lakeside 2007). This is just GREAT. I never know who is playing the leg, which leg it is or how it's going to end. In the Lakeside 2007 database, it is 786 legs to play against !

06.07.2007
16:25 CET

Version 2.5.0.0 is now released. Click here to download. I have had a great time testing this new version. I have played the Lakeside 2007 final , the Premier League final + a few more matches. It has been really fun to play against the top names in darts.
I also manged to win a few legs :)
I can now play against my own scores from those matches :)
A new "Howto" for playing against matches/players is also available. Click here... to learn howto setup the program for playing against a match/player.
You must of course also download a database (on the right hand side) or use one of your own to be able to play against other matches/players scores.AT the moment, I have 57 databases available for download.
All the BICC counties has been added to the program. Also added support for register BDO player id's making it easy to import scores and stats from a BICC match into the new "BDO Tons for Windows". Tons for Windows is the new software BDO uses to create the tables in the BICC system.

05.07.2007
20:25 CET

The new version is almost ready. I only have som final testings left. Right now I'm playing against Terry Jenkins's score from the Premier League final 2007 :)
Open any database and play against the matches in the database (the winning legs only). It is also possible to play against the score of both the players in a match.
F.ex., I can play against all the legs in the Lakeside 2007 final. It is better to play against all the legs than just one of the players (my opinion).

01.07.2007
18:55 CET

I have had several remainders on the issue that when playing against the computer, if the computer leaves itself 170, it never misses even if you had set the maximum random outshot to 60. I will change this to do it random with a 5% chance to checkout...:)
There is a quick fix to this...Just edit the template you use and remove/edit all scores ending on 1. The chance now for leaving the computer on 170 is 0 (it depends of course on the other scores in the template).
The new version of DfW has been delayed. I will probably include the new "Autoplay" option in the next version. The new "Autoplay" will give you the option to play against other maches/players from DfW databases. You can download f.ex. the complete Premier League database and play against all the players/matches in that database. Pick a match, pick the player you want to play against.

The database from England Open 2007 is now online. Click here to download.

I will start the work to implement the option to play agianst the computer using the score from real matches taken from major tournaments like Lakeside, World Masters, Ladbrokes.com, Premier League and so on.
The database from England Open 2007 will be available for download in a day or two.

15.06.2007
14:15 CET

I have finally solved the Windows Vista problem. The new 2.4.2.0 release now runs on Windows Vista. Click here to download the new release.
The only downside of solving the problem is that all registered users downloading the new version will have to reunlock the program. The unlock code is till the same so there should not be any problems. All unlock codes for registered users is in the online database. Just click the link in the registration dialog to unlock the program (must be connected to the internet).
Btw, my personal opinion is that we don't need Windows Vista....I bought my last laptop with Windows Vista. The first thing I did was to buy a new XP license for it and scratch the disk (Dell wouldn't downgrade it to XP).....

Phil Taylor beat Terry Jenkins 16-6 in tonights final of the PDC Premier League 2007.Jenkins beat Raymond van Barneveld 11-10 in legs in the semi-final.van Barneveld did not perform his best and struggeled throughout the whole match to hit the doubles.Phil Taylor took out Dennis Priestley 11-6 in the other semi-final.

I hope I can get my hands on the database from Welsh Open 2007 in a day or two. At the moment I am changing a couple of the reports in DfW (BDO style with detailed stats + some more). I'm not sure what I want to start with next, but I will probably start with implementing the support for Round Robin in the tournament screen.

The database from Fife Open 2007 is now online. The database contains the complete draw with all the results from both singles and pairs + all stats and scoresheets from the stage finals. Click here to download.
Thank you to Cliff Murray for donating the database.
I also want to thank Jan Prikryl for the Czech translation and Miguel Sousa for the Portugese translation of language.ini

For some strange reason, a few people have paid me for a license, but they have never answered any of my emails asking them to register their serial number. I can not guess the serial number because it is random and created upon first installation of DfW. When people pay me for a license, I don't understand why they are not asking for something in return... :)

Added option to change the language in the menues and the menu hints. Default language is English in the program, but. Just replace the existing English language with one of the downloadable language files or translate the existing language.ini file to your own language. If you translate the language.ini to any other language, you may send it to me (contact info on the right side) and I will publish your language.ini on this site.

I arrived from Denmark this morning and I have now uploaded all the unlock codes for those of you who could not wait until I was back to order a license :)
In the tournament screen, it is not possible at the moment to print out the result table from a pairs match. I did not have the time to include the code before the last release. I will fix it in a day or two, but first I will create the howto for the new Match Editor.

I'm off to Denmark tonight. I will be back on Tuesday morning. During that time I will not answer any mails or issue any unlock codes. If you buy a license, please be patient...:)

18.04.2007

The new version of Darts for Windows is ready for release tomorrow night (thursday). The Match Editor is now working as expected. I have also fixed a couple of bugs and also added the option to set board and time for a whole group or a x number of matches at the same time by one single click in a draw sheet. I'm aslo going to include the option to print out the complete list of the result from a draw/tournament. If I get the time, I will include the support for creating PDF files straight from DfW, even if you don't have Acrobat Writer on your computer.

One of my customers have ripped me off by cancelling his eCheck after he recieved the unlock code. This is a rather stupid thing to do, because it is simply fraud and theft. I know his name, email and all the details about him. I'm contacting a few people at the moment to get a 100% identification of the person. As soon as I'm 110% sure, I will publish his full name, address, email, date of birth and the county team he plays for.I sure hope he is enjoying the free license....
Btw, his email address is smartreggie@aol.com. If anyone of you knows this email address please contact me by clicking on the link on the right side.

My back problems are almost healed and the flu is gone so I have done some serious upgrading of DfW. The new MatchEditor is now in the final test stage. With the latest addition of the Match Editor to DfW, I think that I now have made the almost complete darts package for all kinds of use. There are of course always room for new functionality and improvements. I would be very happy for some feedback and suggestions for new functionality in this program. To contact me, just click the link on the right side.

The new version of Darts for Windows is delayded because I have catch the flu and I also have som serious back problems (prolapse) :)
This have been the worst Easter in my whole life...maybe...
I may be a little out of shape, but I have some great news. In the next version of DfW there will be support for editing a match after it's over. This have been the weakest part of Darts for Windows in my opinion. It's no problem to correct errors during a match, but if you're not aware of the error(s) until the match is over and you want to have the stats 100% correct, this is the solution. I will not include support for changing the match result (no use, fatal errors like that should be corrected when they happens).

Version 2.3.2.1 is now released. The new version have full support for tournaments up to 1024 players. In theory, there is no limit to the number of players supported. If the tournament is larger than 1024, just split it into two 1024 drawsheets and then do a new tournament (drawsheet) for the last fex. 64 or 128 players.
Just use your imagination... :)
The code for print outs of the drawsheets have been totally rewritten and the layout have been redesigned. See the samples below (in PDF format)

I have also uploaded a database with two matches from thursday's Premier League (Priestley-Manley,Scholten-van Barneveld).

The bug in the setup program from version 2.3.1.6 to version 2.3.1.8 is now fixed. On some computers you would get an "C:\Windows\Shellnew" error when starting the program. The quick fix for this error was to manually create the "Shellnew" folder in the C:\Windows (Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server) directory or C:\Winnt on Windows 2000.
The 2.3.1.9 version will be released as soon as the new printing functions for the new 1024 players draw is ready. There is a bug in the import players from WDF rankings.
If a player has the apostrophe character in his/hers name, the import will stop (O'Malley,O'Shea and so on...). This bug is fixed, but only in the unreleased 2.3.1.9 version...

The division four county match, Tyne & Wear vs. Shropshire, played last weekend, is now in the database download section.
Thank you to Steve Mann for donating the database.

Support for up to 1024 players in one single group/tournament have been added to the next unreleased version. The "Tournament" mode now supports 8,16,32,64,128,256,512 and 1024 players pr. group/tournament. I'm considering to implement the option to split at large tournament into groups, making it easier to get the full overview. Support for board and board time will also be added to the drawsheet.

The "Can not perform this operation on a open dataset" bug in "Import match" function has now been fixed. Wrong player names shown for the left side team in the "Details" screen in a Six Nations match have been fixed. Added support for printout a list of all players in a tournament in alphabetic order in the "Tournament" screen. Click here to view a sample PDF file for a 256 players draw (the player names was borrowed from the list of players from the Scottish Open 2007...). Use the checkbox to the left of each name to add a checkmark when registering players in a tournament.

Six new databases have been added to the database download section.
Thank you to Wayne Williams for donating the databases.
All databases are in Darts for Windows 2.3 format.
New databases: There are a couple of bugs in the current version of DfW. The most serious bug is the “Cannot perform this operation on an open dataset” in the “Import match” function. The bug has been fixed, but no new version of DfW has been released yet. There was also a small bug in one of the new Six Nations reports. Wrong playername was shown for team two in the “Details” screen. This is fixed in the unreleased version. In the next version of DfW, support for printing all players in a tournament in alphabetical order. Very handy to use in the registration of the players at the venue.

The norwegian howto for playing against the computer has also been updated to the latest 2008 version.

20:10 CET

The new version of Darts for Windows 2008 (2.3.1.6) has now been released. The option to play Cricket darts is not included because of other priorities (Six Nations). The new version have full support for Six Nations 5 players team. The database has been changed from Access to my own DFW format.
It's now possible to doubleclick on any DFW database to open it in DfW.
It's also be possible to create new blank database by just right clicking in Explorer and then create the database by clicking on the item "New" in the menu. The whole program has undergone a rather massive overhault. Because of the Six Nations in Netherlands this weekend (thats why I have to release the support for Six Nations...) no new documentation on the new options will be available until next week. Most of the new options should be rather self explaining anyway :)
Note: All the databases on this site has been converted to the new DFW format.

I'm back from Portugal.
The new release of DfW is still not ready. The support for cricket darts will be in the new release, but my knowledge about American cricket darts is rather limited so don't expect a perfect product in the first release :)
I used the information found on this page to create the support for cricket.
Please note that most of the howtos and instructions still contains screenshots from Darts for Windows 2005, not 2008. The 2008 version is almost the same as 2005 so there should not be any problem to understand the guides, but I will update all the howtos when I get the time.

04.02.2007
09:15 CET

American cricket darts will be included in the next version (In Norway we call it "Mickey Mouse"...). I'm no cricket expert, but I will do my best to try to create a good layout and functionality. I will only go for singles in my first version, but support for pairs will be added later. As far as I understand, there are two ways of playing cricket. The first one is easy to understand, throw at any of the numbers (15-20) or bull. The second one is "no slop", start on the 20's and finish on the bull. I will be more than happy if anyone could send me any tips or tricks regarding cricket, fex. how to work out some kind of stats from a cricket match. I guess the number of darts used to close the game would be interesting ?

The database file format in Darts for Windows will be changed in the next version of DfW.In all versions up to this date I have used the Microsoft Access database file format, but due hacking (using a Access password cracker) and publishing of the database password on a dutch site, I will no longer use the Access file format. All downloadable databases on this site will be converted to the new format at the same time as the next release of DfW. From the next release, all licensed users must update to the latest version (it's free anyway) to be able to open the databases published on this site. It will still be possible to open MDB files for backward compability, but the databases will no longer be possible to open in Access. All old DfW files opened with the new version will be converted to the new file format on the fly. The new file extension will be DFW. The new extension will be associated with Darts for Windows making it really easy to open a DfW database by just clicking on the file. The activation of the autoplay feature (play against the computer) has been simplified in the new unreleased version. I must admit that it's not easy to turn on the autoplay function if your'e not a computer expert...The autoplay function has been moved from the "Tools" menu into the "Match wizard" screen. I have no release date for the new version because of all the testing of the new database file format.

The Europe Cup 2006 database has been corrected and updated with the complete draw for mens singles, ladies singles, mens pairs and ladies pairs. While adding all the pairs and singles matches to the draw, I discovered that 3 matches contained either wrong winner (the players was probably switched in the scoresheet) or wrong team names. There were 1 ladies singles with wrong winner and two mens pairs with uncorrect teams (A team instead of B teams and vica versa). Those 3 errors also affected the total stats for the involved players. I'm in no way responible for those errors ( the database was donated to me). The complete draws is available from the "File -> Tournament" menu in DfW 2005 and 2008.

I'm sorry that I wasn't aware of Avon using the name "West of England" as their team name. I have now corrected the team names in the database.

Thank you to Sue Getty and Steve Mann for donating the databases.

The 2008 version of Darts for Windows (2.3.0.4) has been released. The updated version contains a few bugfixes and improvements.

  • The county setup has been redesigned completely under the "hood".
  • In the "Rebuild all stats in database" there was a bug when rebuilding a database with one or more county matches.

  • Can't remember the rest of the fixes...My short term memory isn't that good I guess :)

A new and more detailed help file/tutorial, "HOW TO SETUP A COUNTY MATCH IN DARTS FOR WINDOWS", is now available as downloadable file. The new howto is only available in Microsoft Word and PDF format. The howto also covers some basics and tips and tricks on how to use Darts for Windows.

It's nice to now that two of my customers has won both the Ladbrokes.com 2007 and Lakeside 2007 in the last two weeks.
Darts for Windows
is your best practice partner I guess.... :)
The Lakeside 2007 database hase been updated. Hit percent on doubles was missing from the ladies final. The hit percent in the de Ruiter-Nixon match had by accident been added twice, this has now been corrected. The hit percent on doubles is still missing from the final. If I get the time, I will browse through the final tonight and add the missing hit percent. Except from the small glitches, the database is now 100% complete. The database is actually the one used by the BDO on their on-stage computer (a big thank you to the BDO, Sue Getty, Mick Getty and Vic Sexton) .
Click here to download the complete (all matches) database from Lakeside 2007 with all the scores and stats + the complete draw.

Darts for Windows 2005 is going to be renamed to Darts for Windows 2008 in the next release (2.3.0.x). The 2005 makes the software name sound "old" (it's not, it's updated all the time..). The new version will look the same except for the blue colour in the logo and background of the scoresheets will be changed from navy blue to charcoal (colour code #404040 for web...). The background colour of the scoresheets is anyway configurable, so I don't think it matters :)

His opponent in the semi-final will be Mervyn King. Mervyn came from 3 sets down against Tony Eccles, to take the match 5-4.

Last night in the match between Paul Hanvidge and Martin Phillips, the referee did an error and called wrong score in one of the legs. The score was corrected by the referee two-three times. The score was set to 39 by the referee, but it was actually 37. Martin Phillips left 85, but it was set to 83 because the referee called 39 as the score. I just red on the Deutscher Dart-Verband forum that they blame the software used for the error. This is totally rubbish !
The person operating the computer is NOT a referee, only a person entering the scores into the computer, called by the referee. Darts for Windows can correct any score at any stage of a leg, as many times as you like. So don't blame the software or the computer operator for this error. Here's the link to the article (in German).

Darts for Windows 2005 version 2.2.0.27 is now released.
Changelog:

  • The size of the legs and sets boxes in the scoresheet screen has been expanded. Because the screen at the Lakeside stage is placed rather far away to the left, the players have problems seeing the leg and set standings. I hope the resizing will help the player to increase their performance :) (just kidding...)
  • When clicking on a match in the drawsheet, the "Remove player from draw" was set as default action. This has now been changed to "View scoresheets from match" as the default action.

Darts for Windows 2005 is to be used as the offical stats program at Lakeside 2007.
I will be publishing the database with all the scores, results and the draw on a daily basis. For the first time at Lakeside, there will be no markers on stage, only Darts for Windows 2005 and a LCD/Plasma screen with the electronic scoresheets. This is exactly the same as we did here in Norway (Norway Open, Europe Cup and Nordic Cup) about 10 years ago :)
We had a great success with this. As long as you have a computer operator who knows the program well, is fast, clearminded and sober... there will be no problems. If you do any mistakes, pressing CTRL-Z keys (the "undo" command) on the keyboard will get you out of trouble at once. I wish the BDO all the best for Lakeside 2007.

What a match !
Raymond van Barneveld won the Ladbrokes.com WDC 2007 by beating Phil Taylor 7-6 in the final. The match went all the way to the final leg. Raymond won the last set 6-5 in a tie-breaker. Raymond hit 21 maximums. Let's hope it was Darts for Windows 2005 who helped Barney to win the title :)

The Ladbrokes.com WDC 2007 datbase is now up to date. The database contains all 60 matches. It's funny to see that the stats from PDC (or SKY Sports) are uncorrect. Before the last quarter final between Taylor-Webster, the number of 180's in this tournament were 434, but Sid Waddell claimed it was 431. I'm now going to count every single one just to make sure Darts for Windows 2005 has the correct number of 180's and I'm pretty sure that it has !
09:37 CET

13:55 CET
Darts for Windows 2005 version 2.2.0.23 has now been released. This time I have tried to log most of the changes, but it was to many small changes to show all changes in the changelog :)
Changelog:
  • Added option to turn off the black stats screen on match end. This new option is located from the menu "Settings -> Options".
  • Fixed a bug in import players from external database. Sometimes the import would stop and display an error message.
  • Fixed bug when restoring a match. Sometimes the score was sendt to the wrong side of the scoresheet even if the arrow indicating who's throwing was pointing at the correct side.
  • Fixed bug when recording throws on doubles. There were no check if the previous rest score was a legal outshot or not when the new rest score was 50 or below (a possible throw on double). Example: The rest score is 188, you throw 140 and the program would ask you if you had a shot on a double because you left 50 or less.
  • When starting a match from the drawsheet and then swap players side (left to right or opposite), the result of the match would displayed oposite and also the wrong player would be moved to the next round because there were no checking for the players id, only the position the player had in the drawsheet (upper is left side, lower is right side). This is now fixed.
  • Added support for scrolling with the mouse wheel in the tournament screen.
  • Fixed a bug in the screen showing legs and outshots. An outshot is not dependant on the gameformat, only legs is affected by the gameformat. This has been fixed. The program now ignores the gameformat when showing outshots. It does not matter if you play 201 or 1001. A 170 outshot is the same anyway. A 12 dart 301 is not the same as a 12 dart 501....
  • Added a check for internet connection when clicking on the link "I'm allready registered - Get my unlock code" in the registration dialog box. No use to click on the link if not connected to the internet.
  • Added the option to edit some of the settings (title, description and gameformat) in an existing tournament in the "Tournament" screen.
  • Added a little extra width on the brackets in the "Tournament" screen (just to fit fex. "Raymond van Barneveld,NL" and other "wide named" players)

23.12.2006
13:45 CET
The new version of DfW is a little delayed because of implementing a couple of new functions. In the new version there will be support for importing matches from external DfW databases.
I also want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas !
The Ladbrokes.com database will probably go online tomorrow.

I have noticed that quite a lot of the downloaders of Darts for Windows 2005 is trying to download the unlock code directly from DfW. There's nothing wrong about that, but you have to buy a license and register the serial number in my database to get this to work :)
Darts for Windows is not a freeware program.

19.12.2006
21:02 CET
A new version of DfW is just around the corner. I will also publish a database (probably tomorrow) with some of the matches from Ladbrokes.com 2007. I only have Darts TV so I record the sound first and then fill inn all the scores by listening to the recordings. The complete drawsheet with all the results will also be included in the same database.

I'm considering to exclude Google from indexing my pages. Why ? .... because Google is not just indexing pages for searching on Google, but they also try to register fake persons on my forum to get access to the members list and the member email to spread SPAM !!!!
There's no doubt about it. I work with computers and networks and know exactly how things work and I can also track down who's the owner of IP addresses. Google Inc is responsible for all the IP addresses I have found so far, so beware... Googe is not just Googeling......
From my web server logs I can see that Google first scan my pages (no problem...) and then try to register with some fake email and fake names (and fake email address) on my forum...

10.12.2006
15:00 CET
I'm considering to include support for Pentathlon in Darts for Windows. I was the Norwegian Pentathlon Champion in 1988 and I really loved the format. It would be very good for practice if I add the possibillity to play a complete Pentathlon against the computer. I will also try to make it possible to run a complete 20 player Pentathlon tournament in DfW with a live points table.

Version 2.2.0.16 is now released.
When installing 2.2.0.16 you have to reenter your unlock code.I'm sorry for this, but I had to do some changes in the encryption to get Darts for Windows 2005 to work with Windows Vista. At the moment DfW 2005 will not run on Vista. All registered users can now download their unlock codes directly from Darts for Windows (see this link).
Changelog:
  • Fixed major Microsoft problem, OLE error 800A0E7F. This problem would make DfW to freeze. Some computers had the problem, bust most did not (problem occured when trying to open the "Averages" screen).
  • When installing the program for the first time, DfW will no longer ask you to enter a name for the new database.DfW will now create dartsforwin.mdb as the default database.
  • DfW will no longer create the two sample players, "Player A" and "Player B"
  • Added England, Scotland,Wales and Netherlands as default team names.

05.12.2006
20:58 CET
Version 2.2.0.16 is about to be released. Fixed a very serious Microsoft related problem. On some occations the program would lock up completly when clicking on the Averages from the View menu.
Another important thing is the following:
When installing 2.2.0.16 you have to reenter your unlock code.I'm sorry for this, but I have to do some changes in the encryption to get Darts for Windows 2005 to work with Windows Vista. At the moment DfW 2005 will not run on Vista. All registered users can get their unlock codes here.

02.12.2006
11:35 CET
It's now possible for all registered users of Darts for Windows 2005 to get their unlock code directly from my customer archive. This is very handy if you have lost your code.
By entering your name, serial number and e-mail, you can get your code at any time. The archive is 98% complete so most of you registered owners of DfW should find their unlock code there.
Your code can be found here.

Version 2.2.0.14 is released.
Changelog:
  • It's no longer possible to uncheck a "bye" player in the random draw screen. A "bye" player should be treated as as seeded player.
  • When entering the result of a match in the drawsheet of a tournament, the result was not saved (fixed)
  • It's no longer allowed to do a random draw without filling up the drawsheet first (this was a bug)
  • Added an option to use a filter when improting players from the WDF rankings. The filter also supports * as a wildcard. The filter is case insensitive.
  • Added the option to fill inn the number of "bye" players when setting up a tournament. Fex. if you have 57 players you must use a 64 players draw and add 7 "bye" players to fill up the draw. "Bye" players is filled inn from the last match of the first round in the draw and up.
  • A "bye" player is now shown in bold in the drawsheet.
  • When doing a random draw, a player with "bye" in the first round did not move automatically to the next round (bug fixed)

22.11.2006

  • It's now possible to import players directly from the world rankings(at the moment there are 650 names in the WDF's database) by a click of a button.
  • When printing out scoresheets, a black divider line was drawn too long. This is now fixed.
  • When using the program on stage most players does not like to see their own averages. The option to turn this off has been there for a while (from the options menu), but I have now added a popup menu when you right click in the same panel as the averages from where you can turn the averages on or off.
  • When printing out a county match (BDO styled printout), the printout will now print 6 matches on each page regardless of the number of legs played.
  • When starting a new match you must now decide which side starts the match. Normally the left player always goes first, but sometimes this is not the case.
  • I don't remember the rest of the improvements.... :)

In 1998 I was responsible for all the statistics in the Europe Cup held in Oslo, Norway. At that time I used 'Darts for Windows 95' for all the stats.
A couple of days ago I got a request from Holland for the scores and stats from that tournament. I managed to find some of the data and electronic scoresheets so I imported the data into a Darts for Windows 2005 database. The database contains the ladies pairs and singles semi-finals (can't find the finals at the moment) and the mens semi's and finals from singles, pairs and teams. Most of the players are still well known.... :). The singles was won by Co Stompe and Denise Cassidy.

Darts for Windows 2005 was used by the BDO at the televised British Internationals 2006 with great success. For those of you who watched the darts on Eurosport, you may have noticed that there were no markers on stage. Darts for Windows 2005 was used as an electronic scoresheet on stage using a large LCD screen/tv standing to the left of the players. It's nice to see that others follow in the fotsteps of NorwegianDarts Federation who did the same first time in 1995 (no markers on stage). The database from British Internationals 2006 is available for download in the "download dfw databases" section on the right side.

    02.04.2006
By a mistake, I deleted the demo version from the download folder :) . This is now fixed. The Premier League match between Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld is now available for download (see download section on the right side). You need Darts for Windows 2005 to view the match

    29.03.2006
There are a couple of sites who links directly to the 9 darter video. Please don't do that. It's better to link to www.darts.homelinux.com instead. The video file has been renamed because of the direct linking....

    23.03.2006
Raymond van Barneveld did a 9 dart leg live on tv tonight. You can download Barney's 9 dart leg from the "download video" section on the right side. The size is just over 5 megabytes.

    15.03.2006
A new version is out. It is now possible to hide averages in the scoresheet. The reason for this is that some players find it disturbing to view their averages during a match, especially if you use the the program on stage and there is no marker or paper scoresheet, only a monitor with Darts for Windows 2005 showing the sorces and rest. To turn averages on or off, click on the "Options" menu and then on "Misc" in the list box on the left side.

There is not much going on at the moment. The next feature in Darts for Windows will be percentage hits on doubles. This will be an option and will only be available in singles. Planning for version 2.0 has also started. I will probably start from scratch. The reason for this is that I want to implement a lot more features who needs careful planning. Version 2.0 will be a complete tournament package with draw sheets and a lot of new features like assigning ranking points to tournaments when you use Darts for Windows. I will also split all the players into an external database. Then you can fill your database with thousands of players, making it easy when you have a tournament and just need to add the players to the draw sheet. Seeding will of course also be included. Support for live scoring will also be included in verson 2.0 and of course, remote play via internet. I may also include a possibility to hook up to a live match on the internet for viewing the scores (a kind of live scoring). I may also develope a new lite version of DfW with only the possibility for playing against the computer in singles mode. This will be a cheap version (£10). If anybody has any comments or suggestions, drop be a mail.

A new version is out. The changelog is rather small. All the functions from the BETA version is testet and included in the new version. The registration form has been updated with some new information on how to buy a license and also where to buy it.
The demo version has now got some limitations. From this version and on it's only possible to play 401 legs instead of 501 or whatever you choose. The pairs and team functions is also disabled. The sets function is also disabled. The demo version is a full version, but needs the unlock code to get all the functions to work.
Feel free to tip me on how to improve my program (click on the link under "contact")

A new database is now available for download. The database is a "Autoplay" database for those of you who are to lazy to create your own templates for playing against the computer. Just replace the database in C:\INSTALLDIR\autoplay directory.
    (INSTALLDIR is normally C:\Program Files\Darts for Windows\Autoplay).
The database contains 6 different levels.
THIS IS NOT A NORMAL DFW DATABASE SO DON'T OPEN THIS DATABASE FROM THE FILE MENU !.
Don't forget the special offer for the 50 first buyers of Darts for Windows 2005.
The price has been now been reduced from £30 to £19 (€29). This offer ends by 02.02.2006.

    22.01.2006
A new BETA vesrion has now been released.
    Changelog:
  • Fixed a bug in the "Restore a match" function. When restoring a match, the arrow pointing to the active scoresheet did not work correctly. Most of the time it was pointing to the oposite scoresheet. This is now fixed. Note: If you restore a match saved before this version, the bug is still there. At least one score must be entered before the bug is fixed.
  • Added the support to convert the playing format from a leg match to set match or from a set match to leg match. This is very handy if you have started a match and you have not set the correct playing format. You can convert the match at ANY stage.
Example: You are chalking a live match using Darts for Windows. You started the program, entered the players names, started the game, and suddenly in leg three you discover that the playing format has been set to "Best of unlimited legs". The match was supposed to be "Best of 5 sets, 5 legs". What do I do ?
Move the mouse between the two scoresheets to the lower part of the panel dividing the scoresheets and a new button with a hint saying "Configure playing format" appears (it disappears if you move the mouse to far....). Click on the button and the rest should be self explaining...
You can also convert fex. a set match from best og 5 legs in the set to best of 3 legs in the set. The program will then convert (from the beginning of the match) legs won into the correct number of sets won.
  • 19.01.2006
The complete database for Lakeside 2006 is now online and available for download from the downloads section.

    17.01.2006
The BETA version has been updated. It is now possible to convert old DfW databases to the new format used for the "Averages pr. match" function. The new option is located in the "Tools" menu ("Check and recreate missing stats in database")
Also fixed a couple of bugs in the "Average pr. match". Average pr. match only works for singles matches at the moment. I will probably include support for pairs and teams in the release version.

    16.01.2006
I'm sorry, but the stats and scores from the Lakeside 2006 final will not be uploaded until wednesday.

    15.01.2006
A new BETA version is out.
    Changelog:
  • Reduced header fontsize in the "Average's" printout (font to large)
  • Added a new form in the "View" menu. Click on "Averages by match". In this form total stats pr. player in the database is shown (matches played, won, lost, tons, ton+, 180's, single dart average, 3 dart average, 100+ checkouts) + average pr. match. This is vey useful for tournaments (like Lakeside 2006) to get total stats for the whole tournament.
View a sample here in PDF format.

    Note:
If your Darts for Windows 2005 database is too old, the average pr. match is not available (just the totals).

  • 15.01.2006
BETA version is now updated with a couple of bug fixes and improvements. Changelog:

A new menuitem has been added with the caption "Print match resume (only the stats and result)". Added support for online purchasing of license for Darts for Windows 2005.

    14.10.2005
The program was used with success in the World Cup in Australia.
Except for a couple of minor incidents the program worked perfectly
in a network environment. I have now decided to concentrate on just
a few minor adjustment before releasing the program in full.
The demo version is a full version, but will only work for a
few days before expiring. The help system is not available yet.
I will try to post the help file as an online help on this site.

    28.09.2005
The prorgam has now changed the name back to the original name.
When this software was first developed in 1995, the name was
"Darts for Windows". It was supposed to be sold under Barney's name
but we never came to an agreement. Therefore the name has been
changed back to "Darts for Windows 2005". The program is beeing
used for the statistics in World Cup i Perth this weekend.
The program is now under developement again and a 2005 version
is now available for NOK 360 (£30) pr.license. The license is
node locked. That means, the license key you get when register,
    only works on one computer.
